The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program is an intensive eight-week evidence based program to empower participants to take an active role in the management of their health and wellbeing. During the course participants learn to cultivate life-long tools to maximize wellness, even when facing stress, illness and pain. The program was developed by the Center for Mindfulness at UMASS Medical School and is supported by over 35 years of clinical research.
The highly participatory practical course includes:
Guided Instruction in Mindfulness Meditation
Gentle stretching, movement and mindful yoga
Inquiry exercises promoting awareness in everyday life
Daily home practices.
Three home practice CDs and a course handbook.
What is the course schedule and time commitment?
Heart of Mindfulness currently offers in-person courses in Limerick at Milford Care Centre beside the University of Limerick campus. In this format participants meet for 8 weekly classes of 2.5 hrs and there is an all-day session in the sixth week usually on a Saturday or Sunday. During the 8 weeks participants are asked to practice mindfulness meditation and/or mindful movement for 45-60 minutes a day.
The MBSR course is also available in an online format. Participants can follow the course in a self-directed format or a teacher led format. In both cases participants should put aside time for their weekly class (teacher led format) or to go through the materials on their own (self-directed format) and to practice mindfulness meditation and/or mindful movement for 45-60 minutes a day.
How much does it cost?
The cost for attending the 8-week MBSR course is €350. Concession rates are available to full-time students, the unemployed and those on low incomes. It is also possible to pay for the course in installments. Our aim is to make the program available to everyone regardless of means, so please enquire about affordable payment options by contacting us.
Online formats of the course are also available at prices ranging from €150 (Self-directed) to €400 (Teacher led one-on-one).
